Early Childhood Teacher
Kia ora!
I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching Biological Sciences and had been a Biology teacher in the Philippines for 23 years before migrating here in 2011. I love gardening and reading books. My four children are all young adults now. I have a granddaughter who inspired me to pursue a long-time dream of teaching and working with young children. This led to my Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education which I finished in 2018.
Teaching is a very precious opportunity for me to discover the children’s potentials and to help them nurture it. I consider each child as an individual with mana (power) inherited from their Tūpuna (ancestors) hence, must be respected and valued. I will support their learning by preparing interesting environments and providing proper guidance and care. Maintaining responsive and reciprocal relationships with the children and their families is my priority, too.
