Early Childhood Teacher, Kaiako
I am originally from the United States and I have lived in and traveled to many different countries. Out of all the countries I’ve visited, I think Aotearoa is one of the most beautiful places with some of the most kindhearted people, and that is why I decided to pursue my ECE qualification here.
My journey as an early childhood educator started by growing up as the oldest of four siblings. I always loved inventing games and playing “school” with my younger siblings and I guess I never really never grew out of it! In 2015 I completed my Bachelors in Applied Linguistics with a TESOL qualification and I have 6 years of experience teaching primary and ECE in the US, Mexico, and Dominican Republic.
In my free time I love to read, play piano, explore the outdoors, and hang out at the beach. My teaching philosophy is centered on building reciprocal relationships and providing a structured environment through daily rhythm and ritual. I believe that children learn best when they feel securely connected to nurturing caregivers and when they have the freedom to engage their inner will in meaningful explorations of their environment. I’m passionate about using music and creative movement as tools to create a joyful environment where children feel safely nested in a daily routine that fosters resilience, self-regulation, and a sense of belonging to their community. I’m so excited to grow in my teaching practice and to learn from the kaiako and tamariki at IMPACT Childcare!
